Find Your Fortes is a series of museum lessons that broaden and support interest in technology and science among children and young people (from 7 to 13 years old). This year we have prepared two leading topics:

January 17
With all your heart
During the lesson, we will answer the following questions: Why do we need a heart? How is it built? How do we know that it is working well? What does an electrical impulse have to do with the work of the heart? Why is electricity dangerous to people? What is it and how does the pacemaker work? What is the stethoscope for? During the lesson, we will build a stethoscope model on our own.

February 7
Eagle eye
During the lesson, we will answer the questions: How is the human eye built? How is the image in the eye created? What does the brain have to do with the object that our eye sees? How do we see the colours? What is color blindness? What are optical illusions? What is the Ames room illusion? During the lesson, we will do the eye model on our own.

March 14
Brain like a computer
During the lesson, we will answer the following questions: What is the nervous system and what is the role of the brain? How do we remember things and what role do the two cerebral hemispheres play? During the lesson, we will build an electronic skin conduction kit.

April 11
Butterflies in your stomach
During the lesson, we will answer the questions: How do we digest food? What is the role of the liver and the pancreas? What is the dead end of the digestive system?
During the lesson, we will make a magnetic food pyramid on our own.

May 30
Good pair of lungs
During the lesson, we will answer the following questions: Why do we breathe and what do we need oxygen for? What is the role of the lungs? How to keep our respiratory tract healthy?
What is smog and how can we protect against it? During the lesson, we will make a model of lungs on our own.

June 13
Kidneys like beans
During the lesson, we will answer the following questions: What do kidneys do and where are can we find them in our body? How are harmful waste products removed from the human body? During the lesson, we will make a water filter on our own.

October 10
Blue blood?
During the lesson, we will answer the following questions: What is the cardiovascular system? What is the difference between an artery and a vein? What colour does blood have with oxygen and what with carbon dioxide? What are blood types? What features the honorary blood donor? During the lesson, we will make a model for a red or a white blood cell on our own.

November 7
Comfortable in your skin
During the lesson, we will answer the questions: How is the skin built and what role does it play? How does the skin receive stimuli and how does it defend itself against harmful UV radiation and against microbes? During the lesson, we will take our fingerprints, just as forensic specialists do during the investigation.

December 5
Skeleton in the cupboard
During the lesson, we will answer the questions: What is and how is the support for your body built? How are the bones connected together? How are the bones growing?
What is and what is the role of a sunny vitamin? We will build a hand model during the lesson.
