  • Tuesday, May 4, 2021 - Friday, December 31, 2021
  • Museum of Engineering and Technology, ul. św. Wawrzyńca 15

OPEN FROM MAY 4, 2021

According to the Museum of Municipal Engineering in Kraków, in early 2020 an abandoned spaceship from the future was secured at the former tram depot in Kazimierz. Fittings from the extra-terrestrial object will be presented at the exhibition Futurenauts.

Aimed at young visitors, the exhibition introduces key issues faced by contemporary engineering and casts predictions on the future of science and technology. Our guides on the trail of humankind’s greatest discoveries and inventions will be futurenauts – crew of the spaceship who abandoned it to search for replacement parts for damaged engines. We follow the adventures of archaeologists and explorers from the future via multimedia stations representing different zones of the ship: the command centre, the captain’s cabin and stations of the IT officer, comms officer, environmental officer, medical/science officer, material engineer and the ship’s mechanic. Our civilisation is largely built on mistakes and lessons learned from them, so we will also take a peek down blind alleys of science and scary or funny setbacks and fiascos faced by scientists and engineers. At the end, we will examine the final message left by the captain of the Futurenauts and discover how to join the great family of explorers. (Dorota Dziunikowska, “Karnet” monthly)
