Hopeful December

2 December 2020

Life in the time of the pandemic is testing all our patience, and organisers of cultural events are rightfully frustrated by the continuing closure of museums, theatres and concert venues. But we’re not giving up: artists are finding new ways of reaching audiences, with the virtual world providing a space where we can all meet from the safety of our homes. The PLAY KRAKÓW platform presents regular December events led by the Divine Comedy theatre festival, followed by the premiere of “Otello” straight from the stage of the Kraków Opera and numerous concerts, meetings and workshops. Many Cracovian institutions are presenting their events online, so keep an eye on their social media to make sure you don’t miss out! Culture is responding to changes and it will not be silenced.

If you’re feeling up to braving the outdoors to soak up the festive atmosphere, head to the Stanisław Lem Garden of Experiences to admire the exhibition inspired by “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, take a walk All Around Nativity Scenes presenting almost 40 constructions themed around literary motifs, or spend New Year’s Eve or Day admiring artistic installations prepared especially for the occasion by Cracovian artists. Make sure you walk through the Open Gate at the Main Market Square to step straight into 2021.

Happy New Year!
