Flaming June

26 May 2017

As the proverb says, “June brings tulips, lilies, roses, fills the children’s hands with posies”.

As usual, Children’s Day is a perfect opportunity for Kraków’s institutions to throw open their doors for young fans of arts of all kinds. On 1 June, theatres present special spectacles for kids. The Kraków Philharmonic hosts an open-air samba day, and the Kraków Opera takes us on a fantastic journey to the magical land of music and fairytales. Special concerts are also prepared by Sinfonietta Cracovia, Beethoven Academy Orchestra and Rainbow Music. Museums host workshops, meetings with artists, urban games, guided walks and picnics: we will learn about the golden age of Wawel Hill, explore Kraków’s green spaces, gaze at the sky during the picnic at the airfield, find out how to make stained-glass windows, design our very own t-shirts… And of course rich, diverse programmes are presented by cultural centres, hosting concerts, performances, film screenings and sports competitions.

There’s barely time for a breather before the summer holidays arrive on 23 June! There are plenty of fun and creative ideas for spending the summer in the city on our portal Kids in Kraków! (bf)
