This year’s edition of the urban project takes place under the slogan Adaptations, which addresses current needs. Non-governmental organisations, educational establishments, cultural institutions and private artists and entrepreneurs will present their ideas for its interpretation.

‘In recent years, the transformation of the society of excess towards a society of moderation has become not only a demand familiar from youth strikes but a historical necessity. Instead of buying new things, we increasingly often choose second-hand ones. Instead of creating new spaces, we are more likely to adapt the old ones or to transform them with a view to actual needs. This trend is followed by designers and craftspeople of different generations,’ note the organisers. Therefore, during the 7th A Thing for Art – Design in Krakow project, we will be looking at how contemporary designers adapt our reality in pursuit of minimalism and the purity of form. During dozens of events in the form of intimate fairs, exhibitions, meetings, walks and free workshops, we will try not only to touch the core of the current design philosophy but also to co-create it ourselves. We will learn about the possibilities offered by natural materials and see well-known places in completely different contexts. As always, a special programme is addressed to the youngest. Almost all events are free of charge, but registration is required to attend most workshops.
