On 12 June, the Wieliczka Saltworks Museum hosts the 14th Salt Festival at the courtyard of the Saltworks Castle. We’ll be able to discover early methods of producing salt and learn how craftsmen worked, and take part in workshops in calligraphy, salt-making, rope-making, basket-weaving, brewing and paper-making. The motto “Salt in medicine and cosmetics” shows us how best to look after our health and beauty using natural products, and the castle hosts a wellbeing salt grotto. And there will be plenty of fun and games for kids, including a maze, a rope slide from the castle turret and salt-dough workshops.
 
The Saltworks Castle, like an enormous time-travel machine, takes us on a journey into the past of the early salt industry, which influenced the dynamic development of Wieliczka for many centuries and provided us with this essential resource and seasoning!
