The popularity of folk, ethnodesign, arts and crafts is going from strength to strength, and folk arts are being nurtured at their very roots. For the 40th time, Kraków becomes a centre of tradition with the anniversary International Folk Art Fair coming to the Rynek Główny between 11 and 28 August. Under the Town Hall tower we welcome representatives of many regions, including Podhale, Oraw and Spisz in Poland and guests from Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine. The stage hosts well over a hundred folk ensembles, and around 800 artists and merchants present their wares. There will also be competitions, dances, displays of folk costumes and workshops in all kinds of handicrafts: embroidery, lacemaking, painting, sculpture and woodwork.
