For the eight time, during the weekend of 17-18 September 2016, the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow invites lovers of Nowa Huta to explore this most interesting district of Krakow.

As every year, many attractions await the participants of the Drop in to Huta event. During two urban games, we will take you back to the times of the Polish Peoples Republic. Each volunteer will be able to spend their first day in the combine, working as a labourer at the red-hot open-hearth furnace. In the game For the Greater Good, you will be able to take part in haymaking, digging potatoes or construction as part of a community action. Get ready for some good fun and hitting 110% of your labour norm! If you’re in the mood for a bit of history, we’ve prepared a coach trip along the trail of World War II, a tourist route through Nowa Huta shelters and a coach trip On the Trail of the Forgotten Heritage of Nowa Huta. You can also take a ride on a historic Jelcz coach – the so-called “pickle”, tour Fort Grębałów or Fort Krzesławice. For lovers of thrills, a route along the trail of nightclubs and the criminal underworld of Nowa Huta awaits.

On Saturday, there will be an outdoor concert dedicated to the works of Jacek Kaczmarski. Join us for a dance and a hot meal from the garden barbecue.

For the youngest visitors, we recommend the Furnishing a Nowa Huta Apartment workshop and participation in the search for Kotek Włodek – the hero of a children’s book set in Nowa Huta. Additionally, in every place you visit, you will receive a free pocket guide to plan your day with Nowa Huta, as well as a leaflet map.

A detailed programme of events can be found at www.mhk.pl

Admission to most events is free. The number of participants is limited.
